Aleph

Aleph-01
Contemporary dance, recitation, video, voice and tenor saxophone, video – 55′

The nine dates of this performance, which took place at the Studio Interface in Sion and at Le Loft theatre in Vevey (Switzerland), are the result of a project whose theme is the concept of « looking ». What happens during a dance performance if the stage is in total darkness? If the spectator cannot use his vision anymore, then the other senses take over: hearing, touch and smell.

Jorge Luis Borges and his stories in Aleph suggested to us an interpretation of the enigma of thinking in relation to the phenomenon that is taking place in the theatre. In a set made of transparent plastic tarpaulins, the performance associates multiple dance choreographies with video sequences and music pieces to build a platform on top of which the theme is exposed then thoroughly developed in total improvisation.
